My days are normally full to overflowing with diapers, dishes, and discipling. Somewhere in there, my formerly-crafty-creative self gets squished down and I often come to the end of the day without having created so much as a well-executed meal (pancakes for dinner again?). That’s why I like crafty stuff that I can whip up in a matter of minutes. With my kids at the table creating alongside me. With minimal supplies. And minimal clean-up. A tall order, right? Well, this little idea delivers.
Valentine’s Day is in two days. Or tomorrow, if you’re reading this on Wednesday, which you probably are, since I’m writing it at 11:17pm. (Oh life, you are kicking my butt lately.) Anyway, this is a really cute way to pretty up your space in this season of love. I am a big fan of V-Day, actually. I know it’s way cooler to be all “Valentine’s Day is a holiday designed solely by Hallmark for profit and I don’t need a day to tell me when to love my honey blah blah blah”.
But.
I still love Valentine’s Day. I love love. Love is rad. I don’t just mean romantic love, by the way.
God is love.
Fall asleep tonight pondering that one, would ya? It makes my brain hurt to think about the awesomeness wrapped up in those three little words.
So, a heart garland. Or a banner. Um, whichever it is. Here’s how I made it…
Supplies
2 sheets of craft felt, one dark pink and one light pink
Scissors
Pretty ribbon
Glue gun
Method
Fold your sheet of craft felt over a couple inches, and cut a heart shape out.
Cut as many as you can, depending on how big you make them (which is totally up to you).
Fold again and cut more, and continue until you’ve used the whole sheet.
Cut your ribbon into 3 inch pieces. Glue the ribbon and hearts together with the hot glue gun.
If you use a wide ribbon like mine, you will want to angle it slightly up when you glue it, so that it drapes nicely. Glue the ends into a loop for easy hanging.
Hang and enjoy!
What are your Valentine’s Day plans? Do you love the holiday like I do? Or are you not really a fan?

What a cute & simple idea! ANd it could be re-vamped for lots of different holidays! Fun!
Beth
Thanks Rachel! Yes, the same concept could easily work at other times, and it’s so easy!
Laura
This is super cute! I wish I had enough time before Valentine’s Day to get the supplies and make one. I love it! 🙂 Next year. This February has kind of gotten away from me.
Beth
Thanks Laura! You could totally do it as multi-coloured hearts for an anytime celebration of love. In fact, I think I might do just that… 🙂

Very cute! I love the clock too. IKEA, right?
Beth
Thanks Kelly! Yup, it’s from IKEA. It was love at first sight 🙂
Marissa
Your garland is super cute!
I also thoroughly enjoy Valentines day, cause I like love at any time so why not have a WHOLE month of a reminders of the love that is in my life! I’m not really into the commercialized, run out and buy cards and flowers (though I love flowers at any time), but we make decorations and little valentines and do all things heart shaped on the day.
Beth
What kind of heart-shaped things do you do? I need some ideas! I want to sorta go all out tomorrow with the kids 🙂
I’m thinking heart-shaped pancakes, and maybe heart-shaped pizza…
Marissa
I also love that clock.
Heart shaped- Dan and I are going to make chocolate marshmallow hearts tonight as the girls little valentine. (http://www.thenourishinggourmet.com/2012/04/all-natural-homemade-marshmallow-chicks-honey-sweetened.html) I’ve already made the marshmallows and they are delicious, so we’ll just dip them in chocolate tonight. The girls and I are making homemade jello and using heart cookie cutters for cut-outs. Heart pancakes with raspberries or strawberries and heart sausage patties:). Heart shaped cookies of course for a little tea party that we are having.I always kind of wing it as we go and it usually is fun:)
Beth
Love your ideas. You are such an awesome fun, creative mama 🙂
