January 19, 2020: I read this book a few weeks and can’t stop thinking about it. An absolute must-read for anyone interested in acquiring healthy habits – especially for those who’ve struggled in the past to stick with them.
August 28, 2019: This homesteading book was recommended to me by a friend, and it’s super packed with amazing info. We have 4.5 acres (half forested) but the amount of food they say you can produce on just 1/4 acre was astounding to me!! Highly recommend for anyone on 1/4 acre or more who wants to know more about homesteading!
July 31, 2019: I’ve been a loyal fan of Redmond clay for years – I even went to go to Utah and see their mining facilities, which was the coolest experience ever! I use the clay in all kinds of ways – both internally and externally. It’s awesome for both beauty/skincare and natural remedies.
Option 1: Shop directly at the Redmond website through my special link and use the code REDHONEY for an extra 15% off!
This clay is incredibly versatile – it’s in my toothpowder recipe, and my toothpaste recipe, it was the only thing that worked for my pregnancy heartburn, and it’s a killer upset stomach/bowel remedy.
November 5, 2018: I take elderberry in tincture form most often, but if you’re super opposed to the taste (it’s not bad, but one of my kids hates it) then I would choose capsules as an acceptable alternative. (I avoid non-homemade elderberry gummies and syrups because of their sugar content.)
May 20, 2018: This fish oil has made a huge difference when I started to veer towards postpartum depression territory. I can tell when I take it, and when I don’t. (Fish oil is something that my entire family takes, and is just an amazing all-around supplement for so many reasons!)
March 18, 2018: I quit my daily coffee habit back in 2016, but I still indulge in the occasional cup, typically with the hubby on a weekend. We love chemex coffee, but the filters are kind of expensive, which is a bummer. I recently discovered a reusable chemex filter made from organic cotton on amazon, and it’s working super great so far!
February 11, 2018: To help resolve a clogged milk duct and avoid mastitis, I’m taking sunflower lecithin, three times daily. So far, so good!
January 6, 2018: I first read It Starts With Food (by the founders of Whole30) around five years ago, and found it really compelling, well-researched, and sensible. I recommend it to anyone who’s interested in starting a healthier diet, but doesn’t know where to start. This is a great way to rip off the bandaid, so to speak.
It has been years since I bought a plastic water bottle. I very much prefer to use stainless steel or other natural materials. HOWEVER, I broke my no-plastic rule for a very good reason. I got this 32oz Contigo water bottle with my Christmas money because I’m working on drinking enough water on a daily basis. In the Whole30 world, it’s recommended to drink half your body weight in ounces. (Ie. 150lbs = 75oz of water.) This water bottle not only has measurements right on it, it’s clear plastic (BPA-free, of course!) so that I see how much I’ve drank so far which I find super motivating. It’s also easy to carry/drink/open *one-handed*, and non-spillable. #momofababy #winning (And… because I really wanted something pretty and couldn’t decide, I got a S’well-type knockoff, too.)
November 22, 2017: The number one toy that my kids have enjoyed over the years is EASILY legos, and their pre-cursors: mega-blocks, then duplos. For our nephew’s first birthday this weekend we got him his first mega-blocks, plus a pair of those awesome grow-with-me pants that fit for several years as the child grows. (GENIUS, I tell you. They weren’t around when I had my first baby – that I know of – and I think they’re the coolest invention ever.)
