About
I’m Red, he’s Honey.
{What’s our story?}
We got engaged in high school.
Then we got married. Then we went to university and worked and dabbled in grown-up-ness. A few years later we added a darling little ankle-biter to the mix without knowing what the heck we were getting into. About the time he started sleeping through the night, we made another one. She grew into an audaciously fantastic toddler in a flash, and now baby number three is enroute, due to make an appearance in June 2012. Three kids in less than four years shall be a wild and exciting ride, no doubt.
{Where do we live?}
We live in the Canadian prairies, where it’s ridiculously cold in the winter, perfectly pleasant in the summer, with sunny skies the most brilliant shade of blue pretty well every day of the year. We moved here from our hometown of Toronto (thought I grew up on the East coast of Canada) in 2010 to pursue Honey’s aviation training. He has now completed his Private Pilot’s License, his Commercial Pilot’s License, and his Instructor’s Rating, along with a Night Rating as well. He is currently working on his Aerobatic Instructor’s Rating, which means he enjoys spinning and rolling around in a small metal cage in the sky. I do doubt his sanity at times, but I love him regardless. He is now employed as a flight instructor, and gaining enough experience in order for us to go into overseas missionary aviation. It’s looking likely that within a couple of years we will be moving to either Africa or SE Asia.
{What’s my job?}
I am the stay-at-home mama of our children, and I consider it my career. It’s not the only thing I’m capable of doing, but it’s what I gladly choose to do. I have a four-year Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, which I heartily enjoyed and chose simply because I loved it. I know – how lucky am I, right?!
{What’s this blog about?}
The day after I completed my final university exam, I started this blog. I initially wrote in it because it was the cool thing to do, and I wanted people to like me (oh, painful honesty, sometimes I loathe thee). I wrote random stuff about my life on a very irregular and narcissistic basis, and expected the comments to start rolling in (are you as surprised as I was when they didn’t? ha!). Fast forward six years and a new domain name later (which means that you can’t see all of my old rambling weirdness because it’s hidden deep in the bowels of the big dark inter web) and I have a fresh purpose for this space.
I could never possibly write about just ONE topic – like food, or health, or parenting. I do however try to bring it all together in the end. The main subjects that you’ll see around here are Nutrition & Natural Living, Gentle Parenting, Spirituality, and Social/Cultural Issues. I try to wrap it all with the common thread of seeing beauty in the daily grind.
Here we are all about the Art & Soul of Audacious Homemaking. I am a fiery redhead, after all. You can expect some passionate opinions to be shared with love! I want to inspire others to live audaciously and passionately with eyes to see the world in vibrant colours, and to LIVE their lives. I want to learn to THRIVE as a mama, not just survive, and I want you to do the same.
Let’s drink tea and eat yummy food, and pump up the music loud and dance!
