Intentional Summer
As I was deciding what to use as a title for this post, the word “summer” began to strike me as odd. You know when you say a word a few too many times and it starts to sound wonky? Yeah, that happened. I don’t know if you realized, but ‘summer’ actually rhymes with ‘bummer’, which, yes, made my inner 4th-grader giggle.
Moving on.
Since I live in Alberta, I really want to make the most out of the short summer months (weeks?! – last summer my daughter was born amidst a hailstorm with a high of SEVEN degrees celsius… on July 12). When the sun shines in this province, it seems prudent to get thy tooshie outside and tip your face to the bright blue sky. Hence, my list-happy self hath made (what is up with the old english wordage here? I can’t seem to help myself!) a wish list of things to do before the leaves start falling.

(You’ll note that I included a good number of rainy-day activities… I’m an optimist and a realist all-in-one)
What are you doing for your summer?
(PS. Next I’ll tell you about a really big goal of mine for the summer – it was too big of a deal to include on this list – it deserves its own post…)

[...] things that I want to do… and that is a *very* long list, my friends. Thus, in light of the imminent season of sunshine and popsicles, and the potential time-sucking properties of the boob tube… we are implementing TV Timeout [...]
Thanks for the ideas!
survive is my first goal – with the ‘hottest summer’ and a high-needs newborn in cloth diapers, i’m dreading those 40+ days.
but on a more positive note…outside. i just want to be outside as much as possible. i’d like to introduce our lil one to the fun of the kiddy pool (a buckey of cool water outside for him to cool off in)
i also want to do picnics down by the water in our backyard
and ‘tenting’ – whether we can spend the night in our tent with the lil guy or not – i think it’s still be fun to pitch the tent down at the water and relax all night….now i just have to find a bug repellant thats safe to put on his clothing to keep the mosquitos away.
I have this bug spray, and I really like it: http://shop.mercola.com/-Mercola_Bug_Spray__8_oz_per_bottle___1_bottle-P971.aspx
Also, we camped with Ally at 3 weeks old – it wasn’t really any harder than with an older baby. It was fun! I think you’ll enjoy it.
